This weekend was very eventful for the Gunnison High School track team. The team traveled down Friday morning to compete in the two day, John Tate Invitational, track meet. The drive to The Dutch Clark Stadium in Pueblo is a good four-hour drive for the team, building up the anticipation. This meet has always been successful for the athletes, as a result of warm weather and a higher level of competition. With a limited amount of entries, this meet is an opportunity to highlight the athletes’ abilities. The end result was pleasing, with the ladies’ team taking first place and the boys coming in third. This win for the girls makes them back-to-back champions at John Tate. This was a big accomplishment considering there were only twelve ladies who contributed to the big win. While the boy’s team is still strong, their field of competition was at an extremely high level. This Saturday, April the 19th, the Cowboys host their home meet along with the second day of Western’s meet. Field events start at 8:30 am and running events kick off at 9:00 am. Come support your Cowboy track team!
